Name: Harold B
Incident Date: 4/19/2007

Comment: I was extremely pleased with the services rendered. They were quick to respond and when they found we good make good time on one engine, the towboat captain had us follow him to the dock which was faster and cheaper for us than if he towed us in. He had to put a line on us at that point to turn us around in a narrow area where I could not maneuver to tie up to the dock. The Towboat office located a boat yard that could make the repairs to our engine and had a Caterpiller mechanic waiting for us at the dock.

Comment: We lost our manual steering 8 hours out of Isla Mujeres Mexico on 4/10. With light wind and not enough fuel to motor to Fort Myers, we were nervous that our.autopilot would "die". We did have an emergency tiller, but my husband would have to stand on the roof of the aft cabin and hold on to the tiller with one hand and the bimini top with the other. Not~safe and definitely not something we wanted to do for 4 days. When we got to Ft. Myers Beach, we called for a tow into our slip as a cold front was approaching and the wind was picking up. Your TowBoat captain met us just off Ft. Myers Beach and brought us right up to our slip. One try and we were in - safe and sound. Just knowing that TowBoat US would be there to help was one thing less to worry about during the 3 days of travel. Thank you again and again for being there.

Comment: Tower was prompt, professional, courteous. Dispatcher also followed USCG procedure, i.e. how many people on board, personal flotation devices, and put an anchor down. Tow was needed as eel grass was sucked into engine cooling system and impeller was damaged. No one was hurt.

Comment: the service provided by boat us and in particular, marine towing and salvage co. Of SW Florida, inc. And, in particular, the captain of tow boat # 3, are to be commended. From our initial call on vhf channel 16, we were responded to and, treated with the utmost courtesy, respect, promptness and, professionalism while dealing with our situation. The service that we received that day, would be an shining example to any company and, it's employees. The captain of tow boat # 3 reached our location, approx. 17 miles of the southern end of Sanibel Island from GPS coordinates within the estimated time, to the minute..!

He then, dealt with rough seas and, safely managed to get the needed parts transferred from his craft to ours in a professional manner, never once, jeopardizing our safety or, his own. He stood by and, waited at a safe distance, as we performed the necessary repairs to our engine, all the while, maintaining contact with us and, ready to assist again, if needed. The whole operation was smooth and trouble free. I want to sincerely thank boat us and, marine towing and salvage of SW Florida, inc. And, especially, the cap'n on tow boat # 3 for the prompt, courteous and, professional service afforded us in a situation which was depreciating, in seas that were increasing in size with each passing hour. Thanks again for the fine service ..! It was and, still is, appreciated..!

Comment: The service Towboat US provided was superb. Dusty. the operator went above and beyond what we expected. After towing our vessel off the grounding, darkness was setting in. He escorted us through unfamiliar water to a safe anchorage. Hats off to Dusty and Towboat US. I guess you can say Towboat US made our first grounding a pleasant one. Forever grateful.

Comment: We called them from our cell phone, and they had the captain of the tow boat call us back to get our exact location. The captain was great, they came as soon as they could get to us, and towed us to our own dock. Even gave us the name and number of a mechanic. Couldn't have been more helpful. If we had to break down, we were glad we had them to come get us!

Marine Towing
Marine Salvage & Recovery
Meet the Captains

At Marine Towing and Salvage of Southwest Florida we are proud to serve the boating community, as the Boat Owners Association of The United States (BoatUS) licensed marine assistance provider in Southwest Florida.

TowBoatUS Cape Coral, Marine Towing and Salvage of S.W. Florida, offers marine assistance towing, fuel delivery, part delivery, jump starts, contract towing, marine salvage, diving services, and contract oil pollution clean-up services.

Understanding the difference between towing and salvage can save boaters money and aggrevation. Historically and legally, salvage is any voluntary and successful rescue of a boat., its cargo and/or its passengers from a peril at sea. BoatUS, however, narrows this definition. When contracting for towing services on behalf of its 650,000 members, it requires that marine assistance companies distinguish between simple towing and/or soft groundings and the more serious and expensive salvage efforts where distress or danger exist.
